Have Verses Been Removed from My Bible?

This past Sunday at White Fields Church, I taught Matthew 17:14-27, which is a passage where Jesus gives his disciples (and us) a lesson about faith. You can watch or listen to that message here.

However, there is an interesting thing that you might notice if you read that passage: In the King James and New King James translations, there is a verse (verse 21), which is left out by other translations, including the New American Standard Bible, the New International Version, New Living Translation, and English Standard Version, to name a few.

Furthermore, in Matthew chapter 18, this same thing happens again. Why is this?

Some people have noted this and come to the conclusion that verses have been removed from their Bibles over time. Why has that happened? Is it something we should be concerned about? Which translation of the Bible should we be using?

We discussed this issue and these questions in this week’s Sermon Extra video:

  1. The greatest sin against God and His original Holy Spirit inspired scriptures is the translators who removed God’s personal covenant name from the bible in nearly 7000 places and replaced it with Lord or God. That name being YAHWEH or JEHOVAH. Every personal relationship starts with a name, its no different with Yahweh. Jesus prayed in John 17:11 Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name- the name you gave me- so that they may be one as we are one. Jesus name means Yahweh saves. Every time you speak the name of Jesus you say Yahweh saves.

There are divine name restore bibles now available that hallow God’s name instead of hiding it. One version I’ve been reading is the isr98 version online and there are many other versions. The Father becomes more personal when you know His name.

This for me this is a big deal. Like King Josiah discovering the book of the law during the temple remodel. I’m attaching a compelling article on the subject in hoping that you will read some of it.

    Blessings Joel
